Comfort Inn & Suites Event Center

We stayed on the top floor facing the river and it was a great view especially at night. Fun to watch the skaters at the park below, dads with kids, older people, teens, just having the best time. Good breakfast too! Lost a star because we had to wet a towel and wipe the entire window down it was really nasty and sticky when we got there.

I've stayed in hotels all over the country - from 5-star resorts to motels in the middle of the desert. So I'm judging this one on-par with others of its price and quality. The location is excellent, right off the highway with access to conference centers and a view of the river and capitol building. What that means, though, is you're RIGHT off the highway, and the windows are clearly not insulated enough. Emergency sirens, drivers revving their cars and motorcycles, that local junker, families arriving at 1AM, you hear it all from the 7th floor. If you sleep lightly, ask for a room on the other side of the building. The King room is spacious, the bed and pillows are comfy, the bathroom was nice, but the mini-fridge and AC/Heating unit were incredibly loud. (Are you sensing a theme?) Staff was generally nice! The place is pet-friendly, and the pet fee was relatively low, which was nice. Getting in and out was super easy and handicap-accessible for those who need it. Breakfast was actually great - eggs, ham, waffles, oatmeal, fruits, donuts and muffins, coffee and tea were tasty. Probably the best breakfast we've had for the room price. Overall, the location is super convenient and for the price we paid, the place was above average. But I think I'd rather pay a bit more for a quieter stay next time.

Our room could have used a good update, and the bed was really hard. The swimming pool had a bit too much chlorine in it we were going to go swimming but after walking into the pool area my eyes started to immediately burn so we just turned around and did not even attempt it. The front desk staff was amazing. This comfort inn and suites is in a prime location if you are attending a show at the events center in very close proximity so you can walk to your event. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and we would stay again if the opportunity presented itself.

Glad to stay here so my daughter & I could easily walk over to the Holiday Boutique at the Iowa Events Center. Friendly staff & excellent breakfast. They are doing some remodeling in some areas like new hallway carpet, but the rooms were nice so it wasn't a problem. Glad they are trying to continue to update this place.

We’ve been staying at the Comfort Inn & Suites in a King Suite, and overall it’s been a really solid experience. The bed is incredibly comfortable, one of those “sink in and sleep like a rock” beds that makes traveling a lot easier. I also really appreciated having a separate living space and a small kitchenette, which made the room feel more like a mini apartment than a hotel room. They’re currently remodeling, and you can tell that some things in our suite will look and feel even better once the updates are complete. It didn’t bother us, but worth noting if you’re particular about finishes. Breakfast was good, plenty of options, but go early. They close everything up right at the posted end time, and they mean it. The staff experience was mixed for us. We met a few really lovely, helpful team members… and a couple who were definitely on the grouchier side. Not a dealbreaker, but it made the overall vibe feel a little inconsistent. The location worked perfectly for what we needed while staying in the Des Monies area. Overall, I’d give it a 4-star stay, comfortable, convenient, and a good value, just with a few inconsistencies that will probably improve once the remodel is complete.

We had a wonderful stay! It was a great place to go back to after a couple full days at the state fair. The rooms were clean, bed was comfy, and they had a nice variety of food for breakfast. We hope to make it back next year!

Booked our room a couple weeks in advance which had no cancellation option but was a bit cheaper which was great. We were able to walk to our venue and back with no issues. When we finally got back the room had not cooled down at all. Called the front desk and within 5 min she had called back with news that they would not only switch us to a new room but we had been upgraded. Had we been staying a couple nights that would have been amazing because it was a suite. All we did was sleep so it wasn’t necessary but appreciated. We just wanted air! Thank you for the quick fix to our problem! Everyone was great! Room was clean and more than acceptable. Can’t wait to stay again!

Overall a great experience for the amount I paid per night. I would have appreciated a little more variety in the hot breakfast items, but that's the only thing that came to mind as an area that could be improved.
